Body Art
Body Art in Ohio is regulated under the authority of Chapter 3730. of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) and Chapter 3701-9 of the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC).
Our inspectors at Sandusky County Public Health are trained to ensure these rules and regulations are followed to protect the public health of the community. Body Art, which includes tattooing, permanent makeup, and piercings, create opportunities for the transmission of blood-borne pathogens and bacterial infections. Our role in ensuring the safety of the public is to routinely conduct comprehensive inspections of licensed Body Art facilities paying particular attention to record-keeping, sanitation requirements, and overall maintenance of the operation.
Our inspections are publicly available through request.

Our inspectors will review the complete application within 30 days of receipt and determine if the proposed facility or event meets chapter 3701-9 of the OAC”
