Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous mineral occurring in certain rocks, and is used in insulations, plaster, and automotive clutches and brakes.
Asbestos is also the cause of thousands of deaths each year in the U.S. from lung cancer, asbestosis (scarring of lung tissue), and mesothelioma (a type of deadly cancer). Unfortunately, the United States has NOT outlawed all uses of asbestos. If you believe you have a safety or quality question or issue, reach out to the Ohio EPA Asbestos Abatement & Demolition Division.
More information can be found at the United States EPA website.
The local asbestos removing company is Erie Environmental which can be reached at (419)-359-8682.
