Sandusky County Save A Life Naloxone Program is a community based drug overdose education and Naloxone distribution program available to residents of Sandusky County.

Naloxone (also known as Narcan®) is a safe medication that can reverse a possible fatal overdose caused by an opioid drug such as heroin or prescription pain medications. When administered during an overdose, naloxone blocks the effects of opioids on the brain and restores breathing.

Family, friends, and loved ones of individuals who are at risk of an opioid overdose, as well as those at personal risk of an overdose, are eligible to receive a free naloxone kit.

Naloxone Kits are available by appointment or by online/mail order and require training on the following:

  • How to recognize signs and symptoms of an overdose

  • When to call 9-1-1

  • Rescue breathing

  • How to administer naloxone nasally
